Once upon a time, someone told me that the day would come when fear would arrive in my fearless little munchkin's life. Now that she's officially two and a half, I was pretty sure that the day was never going to come.
No sooner did I think, "Wow, we've hit 2 and a half and she's still not scared of imaginary things!" did the imaginary monsters arrive.
So lately, she's afraid of:
The trees (they're going to bite her)
The monster in the bathtub drain
The monster in her room
Monsters in general
Monsters everywhere
Just last night, as we pulled into the driveway after daycare, she started panicking and whimpering and yelled, "Mommy, mommy, give me your hand!" So I reached back, and she grabbed my hand and pulled it to her face to cover her eyes and said, "Mommy, there are monsters out there! I'm scared!" When she finally let go, and I was able to get her out of the car, she insisted I carry her into the house.
(Once upon a time in a not so distant I remember wondering at what age you stopped carrying your baby in and out of the house...funny how the times change and I had forgotten how hard it is to carry a kid plus purse, lunch bag, their dirty clothes from daycare, etc etc etc.)
Then at bath time, she pulled the plug on the drain and the panicked whine began again. "Mommy, mommy, mommy! Lift me up! Monsters!" So I lifted her out of the tub and she said, "Mommy, say RAWR, scare them away!" So we both said "Rawr" to the monsters and I yelled "Monsters! You go away! You leave Angelica alone!" And she said, "Thank you Mommy, I'm not scared anymore" and then yelled "Yeah monsters! Leave me alone!"
Yeah, monsters, go away! Bring my fearless little kid back!

that is so cute and im sorry your little one is scared! maybe you could get some some monster spray! maybe a body mist or something and place a label over it that says monster be gone spray! I have sold this before because i make body spray and things but have took a break and it always sold very well. just an idea for your little one to help her be calm! she could get the bottle and spray when ever she was scared!
and as for how big they are for when you dont have to care them....... i still carry my 7 year old lol.....
Awww. Poor Angelica. Rylie talks about monsters all the time too, but she generally isn't afraid of them. A couple of times when she said she was afraid of monsters, I assured her that there were no monsters in our house and that I would never let anything hurt her. I hate when our little ones are scared. It's so sad.
