Five Question Friday 6/3/11

Happy Friday! This short week has come to an abrupt end, but it was an eventful week nonetheless!

Monday I was off work, so Angelica and I spent the day playing together, went to Amaya Papaya, and went shopping for birthday party supplies!

On Tuesday, a kid at daycare yanked her arm gave her a bad nursemaid's elbow. The pediatrician popped her elbow back into place and she said usually within five minutes it's better. Not with our kid...two hours later she was still SCREAMING, so we got x-rays, which came back fine. So they looked her over again and couldn't find anything else wrong with her. We got some Children's Motrin and took her home, and within five minutes of walking in the door, she was back to her normal self...like nothing had even happened. She even picked up the cat and tackled her into the ground. I felt bad for the cat. (I think she was just being melodramatic and enjoying the attention...)

Wednesday and Thursday were normal days! Other than the fact that I've been dealing with intermittent spells of vertigo all week (that and some vivid dreams are the only Lexapro withdrawal problems I've had) things went fairly smoothly!

Tomorrow is Angelica's birthday party! I've got everything all squared away for that, except tonight we're baking cupcakes! I can't wait to share photos and stories about the party next week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

1. If you had to choose, how would you prefer to choose to spend money...on landscaping or a pool?
This is a tough one! We're renting right now so we can't really do either. But, given that our backyard is currently all sand due to the tree cover, I'd probably pick landscaping. We have a community pool. Though a backyard pool would be nice too...

2. Death penalty, yay or nay?

Though I'm a liberal, this is one of the political issues that I have very mixed feelings about. On the one hand, there are people who are convicted of crimes and turn out to be innocent, and in my mind, even one innocent person being sentenced to death is too many. Plus, I personally think it's worse for the criminal to have to sit and rot in prison and think about the awful things they did for the rest of their lives. (I've been watching the Casey Anthony trial a LOT lately...gotta say this has been a big topic of discussion the past few weeks...)

On the other hand, keeping an inmate in prison for life is pretty expensive...

3. What's the worst thing your kid has gotten into when you turned your back/blogged/showered/blinked?

It's usually something food related. If I had to pick, it would either be a few weeks ago when Angelica wanted to make breakfast before Scott and I woke up, and "All the eggs broke all by themselves".

Or it was the time she squished blueberries into the carpet, then while I was cleaning that up, got out the maple syrup and ran all over the house with the bottle turned upside down and open. I still have not gotten all the maple syrup out of the carpet.

4. How often do you REALLY go to the dentist?
I need to go SO BADLY. I have not been to the dentist since I was 19. I have two wisdom teeth that are just begging to come out, but having watched a friend go through a really, really badly botched wisdom tooth extraction when I was 19, I've been terrified to go back. I'm thinking I may need to go for that sedation dentistry.

5. What is your favorite animal (doesn't have to be a pet-type animal)?
The honey badger? Just kidding... (Warning, explicit language in that video.)

I love penguins. They're cute, and their breeding rituals are just fascinating.
