Denizen Jeans - Cute and Convenient Jeans for Kids (and Parents, too!)

Even though it still feels like it's a million degrees outside, Fall is right around the corner, and I've been stocking up when and where I can for the season! Here in Florida, we don't usually get super cold weather, but jeans and a t-shirt are always a classic and comfortable pair!

One issue I encounter with Angelica is the waist vs. length sizing. She's tall (75th percentile) but skinny (10th percentile). That means, usually if something fits her in the waist, it's too long. Jeans with adjustable waists are a surefire way to combat this issue, and when I received a pair of Levi's Denizen Jeans for review, I was thrilled to see that they came with the adjustable waist!

I got the size 4 skinny jeans in a dark wash, and they are GREAT! For kids, the Denizen jeans come in sizes 4-20. Angelica is usually a 3, so when we got the jeans for review, I expected them to be a little long...and they were, which tells me that these pants run true to size. That's a good thing! We can hang onto them and use them for a couple of years.

Despite being (expectedly) a little long, we decided to give the jeans a test drive. Angelica was super excited to try them on. A quick adjustment to the waist and we were in business.

First, she chilled out in a chair. I always find jeans uncomfortable to sit in, but she didn't!

Then she modeled the jeans by the front door.

She wanted to shake her baby booty in these jeans!

"Hey look at me! Aren't I cute?"

A few hours later, she was still wearing these jeans, as she sat on the couch to watch Cinderella.
Denizen Jeans come in a variety of styles and sizes for men, women and children, and are only sold at Target stores. The jeans we received sell for $17.99, which is affordable when compared to other mall-store brands. For more information, visit the Denizen America page on Facebook.

Disclaimer: I received these jeans for the purpose of review, but did not receive any other compensation. I was not required to write a favorable review in return for the item, and the above post reflects my opinion. Thanks to Denizen America and Team Mom for offering this review opportunity!

Book Review - Can't Stop the Beat - Beat Poetry by Ruth Weiss

Cant Stop The Beat - The Life and Words of a Beat Poet is the latest work by beat poet ruth weiss. (weiss' name is always lowercase, in protest of "law and order".) weiss, now in her 80s, is still going strong, showcasing her talent through her thought-provoking poetry.

The book, released in May 2011, covers her life from her childhood, as a Holocaust survivor, through her life during the heyday of beat poetry. While her male contemporaries (think Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsburg) may have made more of a name for themselves, Weiss definitely is a hero and pioneer of this era...although she gained more recognition in Europe than in the United States.

Weiss's writing is intriguing. At the risk of being punny, I would say that it marches to the beat of it's own drum, with feeling and imagination and energy and imagery. Through her words, she gives life to her thoughts and feelings.

If you want an idea of what to expect from this book, check out this audio sample of Ruth Weiss reading her own I Always Thought You Black, a masterpiece-length poem written by Weiss as a tribute to her African American friends. This audio sample is set to some very cleverly chosen jazz music and is quite nice to listen to, so check it out!

If you love beat poetry, and would like to check out Ruth Weiss' Can't Stop the Beat, it's available on Amazon for $11.95, or from other retailers with an MSRP of $15.95.
