Angelica's Mommy Recommends: Store Brand Formula

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

There's no doubt that breast is best. I am a firm believer in that, and during my pregnancy with Angelica, I was naive enough to believe that formula would never touch my baby's lips.

After she was born, Angelica had other ideas. After visits with three lactation consultants, she still refused to latch. She was stubborn from day one! So, I pumped for three months, and as my already lacking supply dwindled, I found myself supplementing with formula and eventually feeding it full time.

Formula is expensive. I started with Similac, which I'm sure many of you are aware, was recalled, and eventually made the switch to generic formula after learning that all formula, regardless of brand, must be held to the  standards outlined by the FDA.

While our days of formula feeding are long over, I always recommend to new parents to give store brand formula a try. Consider trying a store brand infant formula alternative sold at retailers including Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, Kroger, Walgreens, CVS, and Babies “R” Us.

For example, Parent's Choice Formula, which meets the FDA's standards for infant formula, is nutritionally equivalent to and shares the same benefits with name brands such as Similac and Enfamil -- without the extra cost that these name brands incur as a result of marketing. Its benefits include:

  • Prebiotics to help support baby’s immune system
  • Milk-based nutrition containing all nutrients, vitamins and minerals for growth and development
  • DHA & ARA, which may support brain and eye development
  • Available in 23.2 oz and 12.4 oz sizes

Saving the extra cost built into the name brand formula, you could save up to $600 a year per baby.

For more information, consult your child's pediatrician, and visit Parent's Choice Formula online.

My daughter and I had a similar BFing issue which resulted in her being a strictly formula baby. I signed up with Similac for their mom program and got coupons every month which made the name brand as cheap as the store brand. Without those coupons, we would have bought the store brand every time.
