Sickie toddler destruction

So, Angelica stayed home from daycare sick today. And I stayed home to work at home while she spent most of the day either resting on the couch, or coloring some printables from Nick Jr.

She fought taking a nap pretty hardcore, but she finally did rest. She woke up from her nap about 4:30, as I was just wrapping up some things with work. Since she had napped for about three hours, she woke up in tazmanian devil mode. Ever deny a hyper toddler the attention she so desperately wants? Yeah, I think you know where I'm going with this...

So as I wrapped up work, she went out in the dining room, and things were just a little too quiet. Once I was done, I came out there and found that she had dumped blueberries all over the (carpeted) dining room and was "stomping" them.

I made her clean that up -- no easy feat but she finally agreed to do it. While she did that, I threw her peed-on sheets in the washer. (She's mostly potty trained at bed/naps but still has an accident every now and then.) During that time, she dumped her magnetic letters all over the floor in the computer room.

Finally I sat her down on the couch with a movie so I could cook her dinner. It was 5:30 then and I had to leave the house by 6:15 to do something at church. Luckily she was very happy to sit and eat dinner, and I took that time to put her clean and dry sheets on her bed.

While I was doing that...things got quiet again. I turned around to find Angelica standing quietly in her room, holding a maple syrup bottle open and upside down. It was 6:05. Ten minutes until I needed to leave. And there was syrup on her bedroom floor and all down the hallway.

Moms to be who might be reading this? Now is the time where I tell you that CARPET AND TODDLERS DO NOT MIX. If you can get tile or wood floors, do it!

I whipped out the steam cleaner to find there was no carpet soap, so I did the best I could with water. As I did that, she found the mail that had come this afternoon and ripped it to shreds.

For a sick kid, she was sure able to wreck the house in a relatively short amount of time!

Thankfully everything is now clean and set back to normal. I love this girl but she wears me out!

OH.MY.GOD Seriously, holy crap Angelica! Sure sounds like a tasmanian devil for sure. Whew...I hope you don't have another day like that for a while. ;-) I'm worn out just reading that!

I'm glad she's feeling better!
