Tell Us Something Good - Pirate & Princess Party

This past Friday we attended the Baby Boogie Bash Pirate & Princess Party at Amaya Papaya. For added fun, our friend Samantha brought her two little cuties, Aidan (age 3) and Peyton (18 months), and together, our three kids had a blast!

For those who aren't local (and therefore not familiar with Amaya Papaya), it's a local indoor kids playground that is locally owned and operated by another mom, so I LOVE to support them. The Baby Boogie Bash is:
The Baby Boogie Bash (East Coast) is a dance party featuring music from the 80's, 90's, and today. No Nursery Rhymes just real jams (appropriate of course) that will get your feet moving and booty grooving. We have scarves, hula hoops and music toys for the kids to use while they rock it on the dance floor. So grab the kids, put on your best dance SOCKS and come enjoy the disco lights, music and company.

5% of the proceeds made from each month's Baby Boogie Bash will go to benefit a local charity.

This month, the money went to Get Pumped, a local non-profit milk bank which collects breast milk for families in need (for example, if the mom passes away and the baby cannot tolerate formula, they provide breast milk for the baby from their milk bank). I'm pro-breastfeeding (even though it didn't work out for us) so I was glad that the proceeds went to Get Pumped.

Now, onto the fun! Angelica dressed up as a princess, and Scott and I dressed as pirates. Aidan was also dressed as a pirate, and Peyton was dressed as a princess. The kids seemed to have a GREAT time, and we danced, ate pretzels and mini cupcakes, and Angelica got her face painted (by another local vendor, Ooh La La Face Painting, also owned by a stay at home mom).

I haven't gone through all of the pictures of the fun yet, but I did come across this one when I was skimming through and I just think this is priceless...(and seriously, doesn't Ooh La La Face Painting do a fantastic job?)

My princess kitty!

Tell Us Something Good - Surprise!

Angelica's Awesome Adventures

Well, ladies, it's official. My husband is the best. You might think yours is, but you are most definitely wrong.

My birthday was this weekend (the one in which I celebrated being 29 for the third time), and all week Scott kept promising me a trip to the Cheesecake Factory...one of my most favorite restaurants. He told me he had arranged a babysitter and had even made reservations at the restaurant. (I've never known the Cheesecake Factory to be a place you needed reservations...that should have been a clue!) I was so excited for it all week!

Saturday morning Angelica and I went to the premiere of Cars 2 with LeeAnn and Rylie and Scott said he had some last minute shopping to do. When we got back from the movie, LeeAnn and Brian were packing up to go to St. Pete for the weekend (or so I thought), and Angelica and I went home and took a nap.

When we woke up, it was time to go, so we got ready, and drove up to our church, where the girl who runs the church nursery was going to be watching Angelica.

When we arrived, we walked into the Assembly Room, where we were supposed to be meeting the babysitter and dropping off Angelica...and all of a sudden, a group of my friends jump up and yell, "SURPRISE!"

Clearly we weren't going to the Cheesecake Factory, but this was oh so much better. They had arranged a pot luck dinner, so there was a TON of good food. My friend Samantha had taken a pile of Angelica's school artwork and stayed up all night scrapbooking a few pieces of it for decorations and cooking some delicious desserts. LeeAnn and Brian were there, even though I had thought they were leaving to go to St. Pete after we got back from the movie...I have no idea how she managed to hang out with me all day morning and part of the afternoon and not give away the surprise!

I have not felt that loved in a long time! Everyone seemed to have such a great time (except for poor Bryce, who got bit by a bug over in the nursery...that poor baby!) and I left with more junk food than anyone should have. (Seriously. I weighed in yesterday morning and it was not pretty at all.)

Apparently two weeks of planning went into that party and Scott managed to do it all without my ever suspecting a thing. He is such a clever man, and I am such a lucky, lucky wife.

So, anyone who is reading this who was there last weekend: THANK YOU for coming and making my day so special. I have the best friends and the best family. You guys ROCK!

Tell Us Something Good - New Hair

Angelica's Awesome Adventures

Tell me I'm not the only one out there who has a hard time getting to the salon? Before this past weekend, the last haircut I had was in December. Between having a bit of money troubles earlier this year and Scott's project wrapping up (which kept him working 7 days a week), I just hadn't had a chance to get a haircut.

Well, it finally happened! The stars aligned in just the right way and I threw my hands up in the air and I yelled "I HAVE HAD ENOUGH." The ends of my hair were just plain matted. I NEEDED a haircut, and I needed it NOW. I couldn't stand to touch it. If Angelica and I were playing, her fingers would get stuck in my hair and pull it and it would HURT. I was just done.

So, Scott got home Friday night and I said...here, YOU handle Angelica tonight. I am getting a haircut!

I also did some shopping for clothes. Something else I had not done in ages. All my stuff was either dark, no longer fitting right, or worn out. So I hit the outlet store and got some cute summery things.

I think it looks cute.

In my office at work. This morning. I had a cute bow in my hair too. I felt girly :)

Tell Us Something Good - Angelica's Birthday PARTY!

Angelica's birthday season is officially over! Her birthday party was this past weekend and it was a ton of fun! We rented out a private bounce house place so the kids had it all to themselves. Since they couldn't go anywhere, that also meant that the adults (well, most of us) could take some time to stand back and relax.

I didn't get many photos myself...I'm hoping that some friends will come through and fill in the gaps for me. Sometimes that happens when you're the party host. I actually didn't get ANY good ones of the bounce house action. And the battery in my good camera died, so I had to use my old point and shoot that's really seen better days. But here are a few of the ones that I caught of the special day!

Homemade cupcakes! They looked prettier in person.
Angelica and her cousins taking a juice break.

Bouncing on the indoor track.
Blowing out her candle
Cupcake shenanigans with Rylie and Bryce!

Thank you to EVERYONE who came and made her day so special. She was so happy to be surrounded by friends and family, it really meant a lot to her, and it meant a lot to us, too.

Tell Us Something Good - Angelica's Birthday

This will be the LAST post about Angelica's birthday, I swear!

In case you hadn't heard (LOL), Angelica turned three on Sunday! The day started off great. Scott got up early to run out and grab some wrapping paper, since I ran out the night before, and he quickly finished wrapping her presents. Then we went in to wake her up, and she lept up out of bed and hugged us both...we said "Happy Birthday Angelica!" and she said, "YAY, I'm THREE!"

So we headed out to the living room, and the first thing she noticed was that I had replaced the cover on her PBK Anywhere Chair...and said, "Ooh, Mommy, did you got me a new chair?" The old one had been stained, faded, colored on and torn and it broke my heart. She got it for her first birthday and it was sad to have to say goodbye to it (well, I guess we're not really saying "goodbye"... I'm saving it as a "spare"...) but she LOVES her new one!

Then she got right to opening her other presents. (Not pictured: a Disney Princess sandbox, because she wasn't too into it when she first saw it...but she played in it today and LOVED IT.) I think her favorite is her Disney Princess scooter though! Good call by Scott, who picked that out for her.

(Also not pictured, some other gifts that I ordered that HAVE NOT YET ARRIVED. Grr, I replaced her Dora bedding, got her a ladybug swimsuit, and a couple of cute handmade dresses and shirts. They're on their way though...hopefully they'll be here tomorrow!)

We took a trip to the park in the afternoon for her third birthday photos. (Click that link in case you missed that post! The pictures came out great, and as always, there's a story behind them...)

Finally, we went to a barbeque for the parents of kids 4 and under from our church. It was SO much fun! The kids were all running around, splashing in the wading pool, swinging, and generally entertaining each other so the adults could sit and chat.

We brought a cake for Angelica to the barbeque that should pretty much have wound up on Cake Wrecks. The guy at the bakery wrote what was asked him too, and then he was like..."I'm not as good as the ladies, but will this do?" At that point, we were glad for ANY cake. You see, Scott had stayed up until 2 AM trying to make her a cake. He burned the first one, so he switched to cupcakes and made a second batch. The cupcakes looked AMAZING, but when we opened them the next morning to decorate them, the inside of the container had turned into ant city. Not cool. But hey, at least we had cake!

Angelica had such a blast that by the time we got home, she was sound asleep...

She had such a wonderful birthday! I am so proud of her.

Tell Us Something Good: First Trip to the Movies

Angelica's Awesome Adventures

It's Tuesday! Come tell us something GOOD that's going on in your life this week! This week I have something really fun to share! (No, I'm not pregnant...)

On Saturday, LeeAnn from The Life of Rylie...And Bryce Too! and I took our girls to see the Kidtoon Films "movie" Olivia and the Great Outdoors (it was really just a series of Olivia episodes, but enjoyable for the kids for sure!) at a theater about an hour south of us. It was a super fun girly road trip!

As soon as we arrived at the theater and got the girls out of the car, they grabbed each others hands and walked together like the best friends that they are!

Then in the theater, they sat next to each other and "cheesed" for a couple of cute photos.

This was Angelica's first trip to the movies and I was really pleased with how well it went. She stayed seated until the about the last 5 minutes of the theater. She's a pretty high maintenance kiddo so I figured she'd make a ton of noise, kick chairs, run around screaming and so on (and believe me, the girls both did their fair share of that on the car ride and in the theater lobby)...

Before the movie, in the lobby, looking at a Kung Fu Panda poster and screaming "Ahhh! The bear is going to get us!"
But then when the theater lights came back on, the girls chased each other up and down the stadium stairs...

Angelica has her drink...Rylie has her popcorn. Maybe this is a fun spin-off of Rebecca Black's Friday? "Gotta have my drink, gotta have popcorn..."

When they were done, we headed back home and made a stop at Chick Fil A, where Brian and Bryce joined us and the kids all played on the playground.
That little dude is SO cute!

Sadly, I didn't get many good photos of them there, except this one I took of Angelica when we were leaving, which shows how much fun they had. Look at how sweaty she got!

Stinky kid!

We were also treated to some fireworks outside of LeeAnn and Brian's house! We weren't sure where they were coming from, but Angelica LOVED them, which bodes well for the 4th of July...last year the fireworks scared her and she snuggled close to me and kept saying she was scared. The fireworks we saw on Saturday were just amazing to her. She kept saying, "Oooh, that's so PRETTY!" I don't have photos of that, either, but it did make me happy that she's now over her fear and can enjoy the beauty of a fireworks display!

By the time we got home, Angelica and I were WIPED OUT. Since she got so sweaty, I wanted to give her a quick bath...she started to fall asleep on the couch in the few minutes it took me just to run the water...so I woke her up, rinsed her off really quick and then put her to bed.

Sleepy kiddo

The next morning, Angelica woke up and immediately started telling her daddy all the fun he missed. She talked his ear off about it and he was so glad to hear how much fun we had (especially since he had to work...).

It was such a fantastic day...it was seriously the most fun I've had in awhile. We'll have to do this again SOON!

Does your kid love Olivia? If so, Kidtoon Films is sponsoring an awesome giveaway on LeeAnn's blog. You could win an Olivia prize pack! The giveaway ends on 5/31 so there's still plenty of time to get those entries in!
